United Cup 2024: Everything You Need to Know 🎾

The United Cup 2024 is a mixed tennis event taking place in Sydney and Perth from December 29, 2023, to January 7, 2024. This tournament is organized in partnership with the ATP and WTA and features participation from 18 countries.

Who Plays?

Each team consists of up to three men and three women. Players are selected based on their ATP and WTA rankings.

Tournament Rules

The tournament follows a group stage elimination format. Each matchup between countries includes:

  • One men’s singles match
  • One women’s singles match
  • One mixed doubles match

The team that wins at least two out of the three matches wins the tie.

How to Reach the Final?

Teams play in a knockout format. The six group winners advance directly to the quarterfinals. The two best second-placed teams also advance to the quarterfinals. The winners of the quarterfinals move on to the semifinals, and the semifinal winners compete in the final in Sydney.

The tournament starts on December 29, 2023, in Perth and continues in Sydney from December 30, 2023. The quarterfinals take place on January 3, 2024, in Perth and Sydney. The semifinals are held on January 6, 2024, in Sydney, and the final is on January 7, 2024.

The first edition of the United Cup took place in 2023. Germany was the champion, defeating Poland in the final.

Qualification

Teams qualify based on ATP and WTA rankings. Six teams are selected based on the ranking of the number one men’s singles player, six based on the ranking of the number one women’s singles player, and the remaining six based on the combined ranking of the number one men’s and women’s singles players.
